Typical Itinerary:
DAY 1 (Tue): Meet your escort at London Heathrow before departing on overnight flight with Air China to Beijing
DAY 2 (Wed): Arrive Beijing, transfer to your hotel for 3 nights. You are free to relax and explore the city on your own
DAY 3 (Thu): Enjoy a full day tour to the mighty Great Wall; also see the Ming Tombs before dinner in a local restaurant and an evening at the Peking Opera (B,L,D)
DAY 4 (Fri): Another full day sightseeing - visit the Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and the Summer Palace. later enjoy a Peking duck dinner at a local restaurant (B,L,D)
DAY 5 (Sat): Morning train journey of around 4 hours to Chengde, former summer retreat of the Manchu Emperors (B,L,D)
DAY 6 (Sun): A full day touring to see the Summer Mountain Resort, Punning Temple, Putuoo Temple and local markets (B,L,D)

DAY 7 (Mon): By coach back to Beijing to connect with a flight to Xian for 2 nights (B,L,D)
DAY 8 (Tue): Visit the astonishing 3rd century BC burial site of Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi with its 8000 life-size Terracotta Warriors, rediscovered by chance in only 1974. Also see Banpo Museum, ancient city walls and Wild Goose Pagoda. In the evening enjoy a Tang Dynasty show of Chinese folklore (B,L,D)
DAY 9 (Wed): Fly to Shanghai. After transferring to your hotel there is time to experience this exciting city (B,L)
DAY 10 (Thu): Full day city tour including the famous Yuyuan Gardens, the Jade Buddha Temple and the waterfront Bund. In the evening enjoy dinner and an amazing acrobatic show (B,L,D)
DAY 11 (Fri): Fly Virgin Atlantic back to London Heathrow arriving the same day (B)

Typical Itinerary:
DAY 1 (Tue): Fly Air China overnight from London Heathrow to Beijing
DAY 2 (Wed): Arrive Beijing for 3 nights and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure (D)
DAY 3 (Thu): Full sightseeing tour to Great Wall with lunch taken en route before a visit to the valley of the Ming Tombs. An interesting performance of Peking opera follows dinner (B,L,D)
DAY 4 (Fri): A tour of the sights of Beijing including the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace (B,L,D)
DAY 5 (Sat): Morning visit to the Temple of Heaven just outside the city. Later fly to Xian and transfer to your hotel for 2 nights (B,L,D)
DAY 6 (Sun): Full day sightseeing including Terracotta Warriors and Horses, provincial museum and Banpo Museum. After dinner is a performance of the Tang Dynasty dance (B,L,D)
DAY 7 (Mon): Morning flight to Chongqing. Afternoon city tour including Erling Park, People's Square and free market. After dinner board your medium class Yangtse cruise ship for 3 nights (cabins are small but well equipped with shower, twin beds, air conditioning, TV, fridge and outside window - soft baggage is recommended so this can be easily stored).
DAYS 8-10 (Tue-Thu): Early morning start your cruise downstream and which includes full sightseeing of the Three Gorges Passage. Stops are made Fengdu 'Ghost City' as well as the 3Three Gorges Dam site (B,L,D)
DAY 11 (Fri): Disembark from your cruise ship and fly from Wuhan back to Beijing for 1 night (B,L,D)
DAY 12 (Sat): Fly Air China back to Heathrow arriving the same day (B)
